I can imagine that I am not alone when I say that this quarantine has truly brought me to my knees. It has made me question every single aspect of my life and how I am showing up in the world. It has made me question if I am doing the right thing in my quest to help others along in their own healing journeys. My moods swing from left to right, almost by the hour. Some days I recognize my purpose and other days, I have to search for assurance that I am going in the right direction. I constantly question how I am going to achieve my goals when I feel like we were being suppressed, beyond our control.
The one thing that I had to keep coming back to was knowing my why. And knowing how much I had to believe in that why if I was going to be one of the crazy ones, believing they could change the world. Being in a graduate level program, investing a lot of my time and money, it is so important to have a focused why to chase after. Otherwise, what is it all worth???
“When your why is big enough, you can sustain any how.”
How big is your why? How do you sustain your why?
Step one: Know and believe that you are good enough to obtain and achieve ANYTHING. Engraving this fact into your neurology is not only going to help you have a clearer vision of your path, it is also going to make it feel a lot easier to run after. In order to do, you must believe.
Last month, we talked about wellness as a whole; mental, physical, spiritual wellness. Fine tuning these things will put you in a state of mind where you do believe that anything is possible. Far too often we put ourselves into a box or a category of who we think we should be, or who society thinks we should be. We begin to define ourselves as such as young children and we forget that it is okay to dream. So many creative and earth-shifting ideas are shattered this way. Becoming one with yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually will have you believing you are unstoppable in no time.
Step two: What is your why??
My why, for example, is to create a world of love and understanding around me. It is a very broad why and very strong ask of the universe. Your why does not have to be narrow or completely specific. I choose to practice this why through everything I do, whether it be school, work, chiropractic, friendships, or relationships. If you can achieve love and understanding, there is always room for growth. I once lived in a very dark and gloomy world. And that is why I have such a strong why today. I want everyone I come in contact with to feel loved and understood.
Take some moments this week to fine-tune what your why is. Really focus on the basics of what it could be. Along the way, society has told you that your why is supposed to be surrounded by making money, wanting a house to live in, wanting to travel. Attempt to make this why something that is bigger than yourself; something that can make a positive impact on the world we live in.
Step three: Live into your why!
Once you know and believe in your why, this step becomes a cake walk. Everything will start to flow as if you have no control over it. The universe will guide you, as long as you keep focused on WHY you are doing what you are doing. A brand is nothing if there is no passion behind it. People can smell bullshit from a mile away. If you are doing something simply because you want to make some money, or want more people to know your name, it's going to die hard and fast. Create a life of purpose. Create a why that allows you to continue to grow and shed light and creation throughout everything you touch.
Now, more than ever, is such an important time to be certain of your why and to share it with the world.
